Engineering Plastics

Where commodity polymers reach their mechanical or thermal limit, this group begins: higher strength, tighter tolerances, harder service conditions.

Engineering Plastics

Engineering plastics deliver mechanical performance high enough to displace metal parts and stay stable across a wider temperature range. They cost more per kilogram; they often cost less per assembly, because they consolidate components and remove processing steps.

The main families

ABS is the standard for housings and trim, offering good surface finish, paintability and balanced impact strength. PC combines exceptional impact resistance with transparency for protective and optical applications. PA6 provides high wear resistance and mechanical strength, though moisture uptake affects dimensional behaviour. POM offers a low coefficient of friction and outstanding dimensional stability, making it the material for moving mechanical parts.

Glass-fibre reinforced, flame-retardant and UV-stabilised grades are common here. Selection follows continuous service temperature, load type, chemical exposure and any applicable standards.
