PS — Polystyrene

An amorphous polymer valued for dimensional stability and easy processing — and one that asks you to choose between clarity and impact strength.

PS — Polystyrene

Polystyrene is amorphous, which means very low shrinkage during processing and excellent dimensional stability. That matters for tight-tolerance parts and for thermoforming tools. It also flows readily and fills thin sections without difficulty.

GPPS and HIPS

GPPS is glass-clear, hard and rigid — and brittle. It is used where transparency leads: containers, single-use items and sheet. HIPS is modified with a rubber phase: opaque, but markedly tougher. Refrigerator liners, white goods panels and durable thermoformed packaging are made from it.

Expandable grades (EPS) occupy a separate space in protective packaging foam and insulation board. Moving between grades within the family is straightforward once the impact, clarity and temperature requirements are clear.
